RHINO INDOOR LACROSSE RULES

The rules for Indoor Lacrosse will follow the most recent NCAA rules for the outdoor game. We will play at MJCC which is artificial field turf and will use 4×4 lacrosse goals. The exceptions to the rules of the field game will be as follows;

• This will be a fun, yet competitive league where stats of goals, assists and saves will be kept and posted online weekly. While disagreements with an official’s call may be

expected, it serves no purpose to berate or argue with the officials and will not be tolerated.

• Two 25-minute halves, running time. 5-minute halftime.

No time outs. Clock will only stop for injuries and the time must be made up between halves or games to maintain the tight game schedule each session.

Penalty time will be 1-½ times the regulation time, due to halves being running time. Time served begins on referee’s whistle for restart. Players serving penalties will be allowed to re-enter the field once their penalty time has expired. (Normal

penalty release exceptions after a goal).

• During the final 2 minutes of the game, the stalling restrictions will be enforced on the team with the lead. The team ahead in score will be instructed to ‘keep it in’ their attack HALF of the field.

• In the event of a tie score at the end of regulation time, there will be a 5-minute sudden death period. If still tied after the 5 minute OT period, the game will end in a tie.

Game will be played by 5 players + 1 goalie on the field for each team

*1 goalie with full equipment

*5 offense/defense players that can play anywhere. There are no off-sides.

• One goalie stick will be allowed and goalie equipment ; no defensive long poles will be allowed.

• All players WILL wear required equipment as follows or will NOT be allowed to play, NO exceptions…helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves, and turf shoes/sneakers. Goalies may wear baseball catcher style shin guards but this is not required (although recommended)

• Face-off- defensive and offensive players must remain in their areas until possession is called or the ball enters their area (as marked by existing soccer lines on field).

• An attacking player will have 10 seconds to advance the ball from their defensive HALF of the field. The goalie will have 4 seconds to clear the ball from the crease.

No “take–out” checks. This is Rhino fall ball, time to improve skills, not make up for lack thereof with physical play. These checks will be penalized as Unnecessary Roughness.

• No checking from behind. This is very important. There is NO tolerance policy for this rule! You can not check players from behind, especially checking a player from behind into the boards or anywhere near the boards.

• Any action (i.e. tripping or checks intended to deliver a blow) that results in more than incidental contact with the side boards or back walls by any player will result in a NON-RELEASABLE unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the player who initiated the action.

•Any combination of 4 personal fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the same game against one player will result in ejection from that game and suspension from the next game. Any flagrant foul behavior is subject to immediate ejection at the discretion of the officials. Ejected players must leave the team area.

• Anything not covered in the rules will be decided at the time by the discretion of the officials and is subject to change for the next game played.

• In an effort to make this league safe and fun for participants we will institute the following rules regarding Fights. If a player gets into a fight, or throws a punch, tackle. Player will be ejected from the Game and may be subject to ejection for the remainder of the Rhino fall ball season with no refunds. This behavior will not be tolerated. Coordinator/director will work with officials to ensure this is followed.

• If there is a fight and players leave the bench, the game will be forfeited and the entire team will be suspended for remainder of season.
