Q & A:
1. What is your favorite lacrosse moment? When you have been involved in the sport as long as I have it’s impossible to name just one. As a coach, it’s every time I watch the kids I am coaching play better than I have ever seen them play before, when you know they are getting it and they are now a better player than they were a year, a month or even a week ago. As a player my favorites moments come from games where I had played my hardest and I know that I had left it all on the field.
2. Who is your biggest lacrosse mentor? Lloyd Elm, my JV coach and a member of the Onondaga tribe in central New York for not only teaching us how to play the sport but also sharing what it meant to his ancestors.
3. What comes to mind when you think Ryan Powell and Rhino Lacrosse? Hundreds of kids in the Northwest that are getting involved in lacrosse both as new players getting their first taste of the sport and experienced players that are learning to play at an even higher level.
4. Can you tell us what you currently do with yourself and what do you spend your time doing? Coaching high school lacrosse for Kings Way in Vancouver. I get involved in lacrosse at any level every chance I get.
5. If you had to come up with a goal for you and your lacrosse career, what would it be? To expose as many kids as possible to the sport and to help them become the best players they can be.
