About Coach Ventiquattro

Kirk A. Ventiquattro begins his 21st varsity season as head coach at Carthage High School in New York. His teams have compiled an impressive 341 and 84 record (80%).   Three years ago a solid season gave Coach “24″ his and the programs 300th win.  Last season the 17-4 Carthage Comets followed a 2008 season where the Comets won the programs third upstate new york title, made their third trip to the state final, won their 6th sectional title and 15th league title.

Coach Ventiquattro started the program at Carthage, NY in 1988.  Since then the Comets have won league titles in 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009!  All except four, 1990, 2000 and 2003 and 2006 were unbeaten seasons in Frontier League play!  The Comets have also accumulated six section 3 class “B” titles.  The Comets were class “B” champions in 1994, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2008! He attributes the success of the program to great chemistry and support from the lacrosse staff, the Carthage lacrosse community and from some great players.  “I have been blessed to have guys in this program from day one that supported me, the coaches, the parents and the kids.”  Coach adds, “This program is back to the top, the coaches have been supportive but it’s parents that believe in what we are doing that makes the difference.”

Coach “24’s” lacrosse teams have helped him earn Coach of the Year honors 10 times in the Frontier League, including last season when the team was 12-0 in league play. In 1997, Coach Ventiquattro was “Coach of the Year” in all of section 3.  After the 2000 State Championship appearance, coach was selected by the Post Standard as the “Central New York Coach of the Year.” Coach 24 has run a successful lacrosse camp in Carthage for the past 17 years often attended by over 100 kids, many from other states.  In the summers he is the Director of Field Operations for Rhino Lacrosse Camps.  An honor that Coach Ventiquattro is also proud of is his invitation and then successful presentation at the US Lacrosse National Lacrosse Convention in Baltimore, Maryland this past January.   This past season (2008) Coach shared the All CNY Coach of the Year Honor.

Kirk Ventiquattro is a middle school physical education teacher.  His wife is Carmelita Ventiquattro is a veteran elementary teacher and voice of Comet Lacrosse, singing at all home games.  He has two sons, Tony a 2002 All American at Carthage who went on to play at UMass and Cortland, and Mario an All-American at Carthage in 2006 who is a junior attackman at The Ohio State University!
