Overview
2009-2010 Rhino Winter Training Program
This winter, Rhino Lacrosse will offer two 8 week training programs (16 total sessions). Sessions will be divided into 2 sessions: Session 1 for 8th-12th graders who will meet on Mondays & Wednesdays and Session 2 for 3rd-7th graders who will meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Rhino Lacrosse players can expect their first session of the week on Mondays or Tuesdays to be conducted by a Rhino Lacrosse instructor. During these two hour sessions, players will have the opportunity to work on lacrosse specific stick work, lacrosse specific footwork, video sessions, nutritional talk, chalk talk, guest speaker and more.
On Wednesday or Thursdays players will be trained by certified full-time performance trainers at Velocity’s world class facility, using proven techniques to help you reach your maximum athletic abilities.
Each Velocity SPARQ Training session will include Dynamic Warm-Up and a movement component. The Dynamic Warm-Up will incorporate general mobility, muscle activation and performance preparation exercises in a 15 minute segment to ready you for the work to follow. The Movement Segment will include movement skills, energy system development and sport specific strength and power to improve the performance of lacrosse players of every level.
Space is limited to the first 20 players per session!
WHAT IS SPARQ?
It’s a short question, with a not-so-short answer.
First, the easy part. SPARQ is an acronym, standing for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness. Simple enough. But what does that mean?
It means that SPARQ’s mission is to help athletes improve in all of those areas through focused, dynamic training. If they improve their overall athleticism, there is no question they will improve their game.
You’re already fast? SPARQ can make you faster. You’ve never made the team? SPARQ will help you make the cut. Because we believe strongly that, while not every person is a born athlete, through training every person can become a complete athlete.
The first step is to get your SPARQ Rating. SPARQ has comprehensive assessment protocols for six sports – football, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, baseball, fastpitch, boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball, as well as a general athletic assessment – designed to test the skills and unique brand of athleticism relevant to each sport. What these tests do is reveal to athletes their strengths and weaknesses, helping them to better target their training.
Now it’s time to get to work. Once you have your SPARQ Rating, and you know what aspects of your athleticism need improvement, SPARQ will be your go-to training resource. At SPARQtraining.com, you can learn about, interact with and receive training tips, drills and programs from our network of world-class SPARQ Trainers.
The result is a more complete athlete – blazing speed, explosive power, fluid agility, innate reaction and jump-start quickness.
So, what was the question again? What is SPARQ?
SPARQ is the difference between being a player and being an athlete.
